Dr Ankush Singhal is a Consultant Psychiatrist based in Greater Manchester and Cheshire area. He has extensive experience in treating patients with a variety of mental health difficulties, ranging from psychotic illnesses and Bipolar disorders to Depression and Anxiety disorders. He routinely helps people suffering with stress related conditions, for example those associated with occupational difficulties, relationship problems etc.
He has got special expertise in the well-being and mental health of those suffering from physical health problems (like COPD, diabetes, heart problems, cancer, chronic pain etc and terminal illnesses), as well as medically unexplained physical symptoms (like Non-epileptic attack disorder etc).
Dr Singhal believes in holistic and colloborative approach with patients' values and aspirations at its heart, working with them in partnership, focussing not only on medical treatment but also on life style, stress management, coping strategies, socio-occupational functioning and principles of behavioural therapies. He also recommends referrals to other experts as and when needed.
Dr Singhal graduated in Medicine in 1999. He has 20 years of experience of working in mental health, starting in 2001 and has been working as a Consultant Psychiatrist in NHS since 2010. He works in NHS and also as an independent clinician.
Besides clinical work, he has served the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych) as an executive committee member in the Faculty of Liaison Psychiatry, as well as in its North west division. He is the regional representative of Liaison Psychiatry for RCPsych. He also sits on the interview panels for consultant recruitment and appraise other consultants. He is a trainer, supervisor, teacher, and is an examiner for MRCPsych exams.
Dr Singhal has also published widely in peer reviewed international journals. His contributions to NHS have been recognised in the form of Clinical Excellence Awards. RCPsych also recognised his outstanding contribution to the profession of Psychiatry by honouring him with the Fellowship of Royal College of Psychiatry (FRCPsych).
He is extremely popular amongst his patients and colleagues, with consistently good feedback and compliments. He is able to offer remote consultations through telephone and tele - video during the COVID 19 pandemic restrictions.
